No one who achieves success does so without the help of others. The wise and confident acknowledge this help with gratitude.” – Alfred North WhiteheadOur work as researchers had never been a picnic or a walk in the park. Deadlines and interminable school tasks had brought us to points of mental exhaustion, but the taga-West in us, with our indomitable spirit, moved us to just never give up and give in to self-pity and to settle with mediocrity just to beat the deadlines. As WVSU’s other name is pressures, we have risen above the pressures and have become the disciples of Pallas Athena, the goddess of wisdom, for in every difficulty and heartache we met in making this study come to fruition, we have gained not just lessons but wisdom as well.We have completed this study because there are forces of the universe that have immensely helped us. This page then is a testament of our appreciation and gratitude to the following with whom we are indebted:Dr. Alexander J. Balsomo, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, for the approval of pertinent papers for this study and for his sound suggestions, encouragements, and guidance that have been invaluable in our academic journey;Dr. Claudette Baluran, Students’ Research Coordinator for ABELS, for her patience and guidance throughout the entire research process. Her expertise and dedication, especially in the meticulous revision of our manuscript, have been invaluable. Her commitment to ensure that our research paper consistently progresses will always be treasured;Dr. Eleonora Padilla, our Research Adviser, for patiently guiding us throughout the entire research process. Her utmost efforts in providing assistance, belief in our capabilities to complete this study, and constructive criticism of our work are greatly appreciated and will undoubtedly contribute to an excellent outcome. We deeply respect her overwhelming support, patience, and guidance in completing this study; Our family members for their all-out support, for making sure we are nourished well while doing this research and for the prayers for our health and safety;Mrs. Mailyn M. Madrona, for introducing to her daughter, Mary Iris Madrona, the magnificence of oral tradition such that stories and poetry have come alive to her daughter who also shared her enthusiasm, with us her fellow researchers. The joys and laughter shared from the experiences of sharing the orature left a lasting impression on Mary Iris, which sparked an interest in all of us to consider the Luwa as a meaningful and worthy subject of study; andAlmighty God, who made all matters feasible and possible, and who has showered us with the divine sustenance, understanding, good health, peace of mind, and strength for the completion of this study. To you, Lord, we dedicate this research of ours!JANNELE C. CABATBAT
